Dressmaking Lookbook
After studying under world-renowned photographer and draping specialist, Lola Melani, I’m excited to begin offering custom “dresses” to my clientele. Created by draping and strategically clamping or tying luxurious fabrics, I can create gorgeous haute couture dresses tailored to your style and body type.
I’m looking for six models of all shapes, sizes, and ages to practice on, refine the dress styles, and be featured in a lookbook.

You’ll enjoy professional hair and makeup styling, then we’ll wrap and drape you in luxurious silk, taffeta, or tulle to design two custom haute couture gowns just for you and your photoshoot.

+ Where and when will my photoshoot take place?
Your photoshoot will take place at my studio in Old Town Alexandria during the month of January or February 2023. The studio address is 311 N. Washington Street, Suite 200L, Alexandria, VA, 22314. Complimentary studio parking is available.
+ How long will my photoshoot last?
Your photoshoot will last approximately three hours. You’ll spend the first hour in hair and makeup. We’ll spend the second and third hours designing your custom dresses, creating multiple versions, and photographing you.
+ How much does this photoshoot cost? HOW MUCH SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND?
I charge a session fee to reserve your date which covers the cost of the photoshoot experience and is separate from your image purchase. As these sessions are to help build a lookbook, the session fee is significantly discounted from $990 to $390 and includes a $1000 image credit as a thank you for your participation. My image collections start at $2490 for 10 images and go up from there.
Included with your session fee is a 30-minute pre-session video consultation to meet me, plan your photoshoot, and talk through any questions you may have, professional hair and makeup styling (artist stays for the duration of the photoshoot to make sure you look fantastic throughout), a customized in-studio portrait session with two custom dresses created just for you in the fabric colors of your choice, signature retouching of the final images from your session, and an hour-long virtual image reveal and ordering appointment to select your final images.
After all is said and done, portrait clients spend between $2,400 and $5,000 for their session and the photo products they desire. Almost every client goes into the session thinking they’ll only purchase a couple of images and then are surprised by how many photos they just can’t live without from their session. Please know that there is no hard sell—we only want you to purchase the images you love, and that will serve you best.
+ What should I wear/bring with me?
Please bring skin-colored, no-show underwear, a strapless bra, and a regular bra (ideally, bras with more shape and support). Some opt to wear a Spanxlike strapless bodysuit as well. We have some jewelry available in our studio collection, but we invite you to bring additional pieces with you. We recommend black and or nude heels.

I’ve got you! I'll style, drape, and pose you to put the focus on your favorite features and demphasize any insecurities! Once you book your photoshoot, I’ll send you a pre-session planning questionnaire where you can share with us anything you’d like us to know or be aware of.
+ When and how will I view my photos?
Once you’ve scheduled a date for your photoshoot, you’ll also schedule a date for your virtual image reveal session—this typically takes place 7-10 days after your session and is my favorite part of the whole process! I will guide you through my tried and true system that makes it easier for clients to decide between images, showing similar images side by side for easy selection. Once you’ve selected and purchased your final images, please allow 10 days for retouching and delivery.
+ Will my photos be published online?
Images from your session will be used for a “lookbook” so that other clients can see what dress options are possible. They may also be used on my website, social media, or for other marketing purposes.
+ Do I need to bring my own hair and makeup products?
All of the artists on my team are experienced, full-time hair and makeup artists, specifically trained in camera-ready makeup, and well-versed in working with all ages, hair types and textures, skin types and complexions, and levels of makeup application from natural beauty to full-on glam. You are more than welcome to bring your own products, especially if you have a lip color you just love, but my artist will have everything you need ready and waiting for you to make you look your best on camera.
+ What happens if I have a conflict and need to reschedule?
You can reschedule once without penalty if notice is given at least 14 days prior to the session date, but the rescheduled session will need to take place within 30 days of the original session date. In the event you cancel or are unable to show up for your session, the session retainer fee is forfeited. Due to the custom nature of this work, I cannot provide any refunds.

Hi, I'm Lisa! I'm an award-winning photographer based in Alexandria, Virginia, who specializes in portraits, headshots, personal branding, and online dating photos. I combine a background in marketing with my photography skills to strategically create images that help take my clients’ careers, self-confidence, and even love lives to the next level. My goal is to show you the best photos you've ever seen of yourself. I'm a graduate of the University of Virginia and speak fluent French and Spanish (and a little Italian!). When I'm not behind the camera, I enjoy listening to personal development podcasts, traveling, cooking, and spending time with my husband and two-year-old daughter.
