Professional Hair & Makeup Camera-ready from the moment you step on set. Whether you want natural glow or full-on glam, our team has you covered.
Celebrity-Style Photoshoot A fully guided, magazine-style session at my luxury Old Town Alexandria studio. Not photogenic? Not your job. I will pose you to your fingertips and make you look like the cover you deserve to be on.
In-Person Image Reveal & Ordering Session About a week later, you come back, sit down, and see yourself the way others already see you. This is where clients choose their fine art prints, wall portraits, and albums. Clients describe the reveal as the best part—and the hardest, because they want everything.
Feature in the 40 Over 40 Celebration & Gallery Exhibition This is the heart of the project. When all 40 women are photographed, we celebrate together—your portrait displayed alongside the stories of every woman in this series. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SHOW UP
You walk in. Music is playing. Your hair and makeup artist is waiting. Everything about your session has already been planned—your outfits, your looks, your vision.
For the next four hours, you are the only thing that matters.
I'll guide you through every pose. I'll tell you exactly where to put your hands. I'll make you laugh when you're nervous and push you when you're ready. My job is to find every version of you—the powerful one, the soft one, the one you only let out on your best days—and put it all on camera.
Then, about a week later, you'll come back and see what we made together.

Why photographing women over 40 is so important to me
My name is Lisa, and I am an Alexandria, VA-based portrait photographer. I have been a professional photographer in the Washington, D.C., area for over 10 years, and this is the most powerful portrait series that I have worked on to date!
I know many women start to feel invisible once their hair turns white. We don’t see enough women of a certain age on television or in movies or magazines. We’re made to feel that our voices don’t matter and that, after a certain point, we don’t have anything to contribute to society.
I turned 40 a few years ago and started the 40 Over 40 project because I refused to accept that. And since launching this project, I've watched 35 women walk into my studio carrying the weight of everything they've been through—and walk out looking like exactly who they've always been on the inside.
I've photographed women who beat cancer. Women who started over at 50. Women who hadn't seen a photo of themselves in years that they actually liked. Women who cried at their image reveal—not from sadness, but from recognition.

1) CONSULTATION & Wardrobe Styling
We’ll design your session, talk through how you’d like to be photographed, and bring your vision to life! I’ll coach you on what to wear and bring with you as well as what colors, styles, and fit photograph best.
2) PROFESSIONAL MAKEOVER
Camera-ready custom makeup application by our skilled on-site artist! Glammed up or more natural, it's all up to you! Light hairstyling for picture perfect results!
3) CELEBRITY STYLE PHOTOSHOOT
Covergirl for a day! You will enjoy a fully and expertly guided magazine-style photoshoot. Not photogenic? Nonsense! It is not your job to be. I've got you! It is my job to connect, make you comfortable, and capture you in your best light with flattering posing.
4) Image Reveal & Ordering Session
We will schedule a time for you to come back and view your beautiful portraits in person about a week later. At this appointment, you will review, choose, and decide on the images that you want to take home forever. How you’d like those images is up to you, whether that be a wall portrait, a custom album, or a beautiful customizable image folio box with all of your photographs inside.

"Photogenic" is not something you are or aren't. It's my job to make you look and feel amazing, and I'm very good at it. My clients say this is the worry that disappeared fastest.

The photoshoot experience starts at $490 (Mini Session) or $590 (Full Session). We have thoughtfully put together image collections and wall art displays based on the most frequent client purchases. We have a variety of first-class products including matted print collections, albums, and wall art (framed prints, canvases, and more)—and each photo chosen gets its corresponding digital file. Though the spending range is vast, Full Session clients tend to spend in the $3,000–$7,000 range for their session and the photo products they desire; Mini Session clients typically spend in the $1,600–$3,500 range. Some spend more, some spend less, but all end up loving more photos than they thought possible. We also offer pre-payment package specials that can be chosen at the time of booking.

Absolutely. I recommend saving loved ones for the last look of your session. Extra hair and makeup is $250–350 per person.

Not at all. We've welcomed women from across the country and world to the studio. Old Town Alexandria is 10 minutes from Reagan National, with gorgeous boutique hotels steps from the studio.

All of the artists on my team are experienced, full-time hair and makeup artists, specifically trained in camera-ready makeup and well-versed in working with all ages, hair types and textures, skin types and complexions, and levels of makeup application from natural beauty to full-on glam. You are more than welcome to bring your own products—especially if you have a lip color you just love—but my artist will have everything you need ready and waiting for you to make you look your best on camera.

I’m not choosing anyone. Every woman's story is inspiring and every woman is beautiful, so I’m not going to exclude anyone who wants to be involved. This is first come, first served. If you're willing to connect with me for a quick get-to-know-you call, pay your session fee to book your date, and are over 40 (or turning 40 this year), you're in. The only limit is the number of spots remaining—once they're filled, this campaign closes permanently.

You can wear up to 5 outfits for the Full Session (3 for the Mini). Casual jeans and a white shirt, a sundress, a cocktail dress, a jumpsuit, yoga clothes—there are no rules. My wardrobe stylist will work with what you already have in your closet and make recommendations if you’d like to make a few purchases. I also have a variety of luxurious fabrics at the studio that I can strategically clip or tie to create many of the epic gowns you've seen in my photos.
