THE MAGICAL PORTRAIT SERIES
You've always lived in a more magical world. It's time your portraits caught up.
A limited fine art portrait experience built around mythology, sacred symbolism, ritual, and the ethereal. If you've never seen that side of yourself in a photograph, this is where that changes.
INTRO
You already understand that ritual is intentional. That the archetype you're working with, the craft you practice, the symbolic world that feels most like home — these things say something real about who you are.
This experience starts there.
Each session is built around your specific mythology: the tarot card you keep pulling, the goddess energy you've been sitting with, the seasonal symbolism that's been following you, the aesthetic world that has always felt most like home. From the first consultation to the final image, every visual choice is made with the same care and intention you bring to your own practice — the light, the wardrobe, the composition, the emotional tone. My job is to handle all of it so you can just show up and be in it.
What you walk away with is a body of images that look like the version of yourself your craft has been slowly revealing — each one a different facet, a different chapter, a different light. Most clients tell me they couldn't narrow it down even if they tried.
CHOOSE YOUR MAGIC
What calls to you?
Every archetype, myth, and symbol carries its own visual language. The Magical Portrait Series begins with yours.
The aesthetic of this series is as varied as the craft itself. Some sessions are dark and atmospheric. Others are warm, sun-drenched, and full of bloom. What matters is that yours reflects your actual practice—not someone else's idea of what magic looks like.
Below are some of the worlds we can build together—though your vision doesn't need to fit neatly into any one of them. If you come in with a feeling rather than a concept, we'll work with that too.
The Goddess / The Divine Feminine
Classical, mythological, luminous. Whether drawn from Greek antiquity, sacred iconography, or a deity you've been working with in your practice—this archetype holds power without performance.
The Witch / The warlock / The Alchemist
Ceremony, intuition, and the quiet authority of someone who works with the unseen. Dark elegance, candlelight, the weight of old knowledge. For practitioners who want their images to reflect the depth of their actual craft—not a costume version of it.
The Forest Keeper / The Wild
Folklore and nature intertwined. Moss, bark, shadow, and bloom. The kind of portrait that looks like it was painted in a wood that no longer exists—and somehow still feels like coming home.
The Celestial / The Cosmic
Stars, cycles, the heavens interpreted through portraiture. Light as symbol. The sky as mirror. For those who already move through the world by moon and chart.
The Green Witch / The Herbalist
Sunlight through leaves, bundles of dried herbs, the quiet magic of growing things. Witchcraft rooted in the garden, the kitchen windowsill, the turning of seasons in soil rather than shadow. Warm, abundant, and deeply alive.
The Sea Witch / The Siren
Ocean mythology, the mystery of tides, the otherworldly quality of water and salt and ancient things. Sirens, selkies, the pull of something vast.
The Dark Romantic
Baroque drama. Chiaroscuro. The lush, melancholy beauty of something rare and complicated. Velvet, candlelight, a certain magnificent weight. For those whose craft has always had an edge to it.
The Fae
Ancient, wild, and achingly beautiful. Rooted in the folklore of the in-between—the liminal spaces where the ordinary world thins and something older shows through. Florals, forest light, gossamer textures, the particular magic of something that looks like it wandered in from another realm entirely. For those who have always felt like they belonged somewhere just slightly outside the world they were born into.
The Tarot Archetype
The Tower. The Star. The Hermit. The High Priestess. These aren't costumes, they're mirrors. If there's a card that has been showing up in your spreads, there's a portrait in it.
The Seasonal / The Elemental
The bloom of spring. The abundance of midsummer. The golden turn of autumn. The ice and majesty of winter. Each season carries its own symbolism, its own palette, its own particular magic. If you mark the sabbats, work with the wheel of the year, or simply feel the turning of seasons in your body—this one was built for you. Tell me which season calls to you most, and we'll build from there.
The Kitchen Witch / The Hearth Keeper
Warmth, nourishment, the sacred made ordinary. Copper pots, candlelight on wooden surfaces, the magic of a table set with intention. For those whose craft lives in the everyday—in cooking, in tending, in the art of making a space feel like home.
The Scholar / The Dark Academic
Books, ink, stone. The beauty that belongs to the world of ideas and careful study. For those whose craft is as much research as it is ritual.
The Cottage Witch / The Keeper
Cozy and intentional. Bookshelves and candles, worn wooden floors, the particular magic of a space that has been loved and tended for a long time. Warm light, soft textures, a portrait that feels like exhaling.
Something Entirely Yours
Bring your references, your instincts, your obsessions—even the ones you haven't found words for yet. The most interesting sessions often start with a screenshot and a feeling.
WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT
This is not themed photography.
The symbolism and atmosphere exist in service of the image — not the other way around. Every session is built from scratch around your specific energy and mythology. No preset themes, no menu of options, no costume rack.
The consultation gets into the real stuff — not just what you want to look like, but what you want the image to say about where you are right now. The craft that follows is painterly and ethereal: light, shadow, composition, and retouching all informed by the same visual traditions that shaped allegorical painting.
And this experience is open to everyone. Seasoned practitioners and curious beginners. Women, men, nonbinary clients, couples, and people who don't use any of those words but feel the pull of this work anyway. If you're drawn to mythology, magic, or the idea of an image that actually means something — you belong here.
THE EXPERIENCE
Here's how it works
The Consultation We start with a real conversation — your references, your instincts, the world you're drawn to, and the aesthetic that has always felt most like you. By the end, we have the foundation of a concept that is entirely yours.
Concept Development From that conversation, I build a full creative direction: mood, color palette, wardrobe guidance, symbolic references, compositional approach. You'll know exactly what we're making before we make it — no guesswork, no showing up and hoping for the best.
Wardrobe & Styling Guidance Detailed direction on what to wear, what textures and colors to look for, and how to pull the look together in a way that serves the concept. This is one of the most underestimated parts of the process, and one of the most impactful on the final images.
Professional Hair & Makeup Included. Designed to serve the visual world of the session — atmospheric, intentional, and crafted with the same care you bring to your own practice.
The Session Immersive, unhurried, and fully guided. You'll receive posing and expression direction throughout — no experience required, no performance needed. Most clients tell me it felt nothing like what they expected, in the best way.
Multiple Looks & Setups Each session includes multiple wardrobe or concept looks, giving the final gallery depth and range. These aren't just outfit changes — they're chapters.
The Images Every delivered image is fully retouched to fine art standards. Color, light, texture, and detail treated with the same care and intention as the session itself. Most clients arrive thinking they'll choose a handful and leave wanting far more than they planned for. We'll guide you through the selection process so you end up with exactly what you love.
WHY THIS, WHY NOW
What this is, really
There's a version of yourself that exists somewhere between who you are on an ordinary Tuesday and who you know yourself to be when you're deep in practice — mid-ritual, mid-spell, in the particular quality of presence that this kind of work asks of you. Most photography never gets anywhere near that version.
This experience was built to find it.
People come to the Magical Portrait Series for all kinds of reasons. Some have spent years developing a rich inner world and have never seen it reflected in an image. Some are in a season of significant change — shedding an old self, stepping into something new — and want a portrait that marks it. Some simply want, for once, to be seen the way they actually are.
Whatever brings you here, what you leave with is a collection of portraits made with intention — by someone who took the time to understand your world, and knew how to make it visible.
WHY I CREATED THIS
A note from Lisa
I have loved fairytales since I was small enough to believe they might be real. Greek mythology came next — not the politics of Mount Olympus but the parts that felt genuinely magical: the powers of the gods and goddesses themselves, the creatures that existed at the edges of the known world. Medusa before she became a cautionary tale. Circe alone on her island, turning wolves back into men. Hecate at the crossroads. Persephone choosing, eventually, to stay. Art history in college showed me what happens when that symbolic language moves into imagery: how a single painting can carry the weight of an entire mythology, how light and allegory together can make something feel true in a way words alone never quite manage.
These days I stay up later than I should reading romantasy novels, happily rediscovering the magical storylines I loved before the world suggested I was too old for them.
The Magical Portrait Series is where all of that lives now. It's my creative playground — the place where I get to make images purely for the love of making them, without rules or formulas. And it turns out that when a photographer is genuinely excited about what they're creating, it shows up in the work in ways that are hard to manufacture. If any part of this resonates with you, I think you'll feel that the moment you see your images.
FAQs
-
None at all. I specialize in working with people who are convinced they're unphotographable, and proving them wrong. You'll be guided through everything. All you have to do is show up.
-
Not at all. This experience is for anyone drawn to mythology, magic, fantasy aesthetics, or the idea of an image that actually means something—regardless of where you are in your practice or whether you have one at all. Curiosity is enough.
-
Yes—and more so. The symbolism and artistry exist to bring forward something genuinely, recognizably you. The mythology is a lens, not a mask.
-
Not even close. Some sessions are dark and atmospheric. Others are warm, sun-drenched, and full of bloom. What we build is determined entirely by your vision—not a preset idea of what magical portraiture looks like.
-
That's what the consultation is for. You don't need to arrive with a fully formed idea—just your references, your instincts, and your openness. Most people are surprised by how quickly the concept comes together once we start talking.
-
This is common, and often produces the most interesting work. During the consultation we find the thread that connects your different interests and build from there.
-
Each session produces a full gallery of images across your different looks and setups. Most clients arrive thinking they'll choose a handful and leave wanting far more than they planned for—which is exactly how it should be. Collections are available at a range of investment levels and are discussed during booking.
